About Boating Safely (ABS)
Dates:
Tuesdays: Feb 12, 19, 26
Thursdays: Feb 28, Mar 06, Mar 13;

Three classes to be held 6:45. to 9:15 PM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church, 1489 Laskin Road, Va. Beach
Knot tying clinic from 6:30-6:45 PM is value added feature. Course
materials, etc are $35.
Registration is completed prior to the first class session, so
please arrive 15 minutes early.
Note: This course is very basic, enabling boaters to become certified
for possible insurance premium discounts and/or to qualify to drive
their own PWC at age 14 or 15
Boating Skills and Seamanship
(BS&S), including four hours for sailing students
Dates:
Tuesdays and Thursdays: March 18, 20, 25, 27, Apr 01, 03,
08, 10;
Tuesdays (once a week): Oct 07, 14, 21, 28, Nov 04, 11,
18, 25
Power and sail classes are combined for topics such as
rules of the road, highway signs, safety equipment, etc. After these
mutual subjects are completed, students divide into two groups to
study topics specifically for power or sail, to finish the course.
Note: No classes are held during the months August and December.
Eight classes to be held Tuesday/Thursday, 7 to 9 PM at the Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1489 Laskin Road, Va. Beach. Course materials
are $60. Knot tying clinic from 6:30-6:55 PM is value added feature.

Advanced Coastal Navigation
(CN)
Dates: Tuesdays: Apr 15, 22, 29, May 06, 13, 20, 27, 31,
Jun 03
Eight classes to be held on Tuesdays, 7 to 9 PM at the Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, 1489 Laskin Road, Va. Beach.
Students should first complete BS&S Course to be better prepared
for this advanced class and its extensive homework assignments.
Students should bring to class a basic student's set of navigation
tools (dividers and parallel rules) which are available at boating
supply stores. A few sets of tools are available to borrow in class.
Course materials are $60. Five student minimum required for class
to be held.
Note: Registration at first class (Come 15 minutes early.) Cost
of text books and class materials may be paid in cash or check to
C.G.Aux. F-57. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.
